Frequently asked questions about your first visit

What do I do when I arrive?

The front and garage doors are always open during business hours. You can place your belongings in a cubby, grab a towel and you are ready to start your workout!

What should I wear?

Most importantly wear what you are comfortable in, but we encourage women to wear a sports bra and athletic shorts and men athletic shorts and a t-shirt. We encourage light clothing for postural assessment purposes.

Am I allowed to show up 10 minutes before our session?

We always encourage our clients to show up early to ensure that their session starts on time. While waiting for your session, feel free to use our cardio equipment (rower or bike) or grab a foam roller to mobilize and stretch.

What if I don’t have water?

We always encourage our clients to bring their own water bottle, however we do have glasses available for filtered water.

Can I take a shower after my workout?

Yes! We have a shower at our facility. We encourage everyone to limit their shower time to 5 minutes and please bring your own towels (but we can provide if needed).


Frequently asked questions about being a member of the Gym

How do I enter the gym when nobody is present?

After you have signed up in person you will be given permission to access our August lock system, which will allow you to enter the gym during specific hours with a simple app on your phone. If you are not able to enter the gym then call the AWL number 619-981-2326 immediately.

How do I exit the gym when nobody is present?

Make sure the rolling garage doors are closed and latched shut, all lights are turned off, and use your August app to lock the door. If you are not able to lock the gym then call the AWL number 619-981-2326 immediately.

What if I need help while I’m in the gym?

We will do our best to help you when we are not with a client, however when we are with clients we are dedicated to them during that hour. It’s always best to have one training session with an AWL trainer to insure you know how to properly use all the equipment.

Can I try the gym before joining?

We will give you a 10 to 15 minute tour of the facility and will gladly answer any questions you may have before joining.

Can I freeze my membership?

Our memberships are month to month with no initiation fee, so if you wish to stop using our facility then simply come down to the gym and sign a cancellation notice. Your membership is active for 30 more days after signing the notice.

Are there any other benefits to becoming a member?

We give all members 20% off regular priced training, nutrition, and massage sessions.

Facilities & Equipment

Frequently asked questions about our facilities

Will I be shown how to use the equipment?

If you are training with us you will certainly learn! If you are a member who is not with an AWL trainer then when you sign up with us you receive a 15-minute Q & A tutorial.

Are there lockers?

No. However, we do provide adequate amount of storage for your personal belongings, which are in a safe and secure place in our facility. AWL does not take responsibility for any lost or stolen items.

Does the facility include sauna, steam, spa and pool?

We do have a shower, but unfortunately do not offer any of the other amenities.

Do you provide parking at The Gym?

No, however we are located adjacent to a large Von’s parking lot, which you can park at for 90 minutes. There is free parking available one block west on Eagle St. There is also metered parking available on Washington St.

Is there a camera in the facility?

Yes, we have a camera to monitor at the entrance of the facility and the storage cubbies.

Are credit card payments secure through AWL’s website?

Absolutely, every quarter AWL undergoes rigorous compliance testing to make sure that our payment system is secure.
